Audi Developing Supercharged 3.0-liter V6 Engine

Ingolstadt’s answer to the “International Engine of the Year” aka, BMW’s twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter straight-six will be a 3.0-liter V6 engine equipped with an Eaton supercharger and an air-to-air intercooler, or so the guys at Autocar magazine support.

Citing inside sources, Autocar says that Audi’s forthcoming engine will be known as the 3.0 TFSI despite the fact that the “T” usually stands for “turbo”. The direct-injection supercharged V6 is said to produce 286bhp at 4850rpm, and 310lb ft torque at 2500rpm. -Continued

Insiders support that the 3.0 TFSI V6 unit will make its premiere on the new S4 and next year’s facelifted A6. As expected, the Q7 and A8 are also likely to get the supercharged V6
