Next Generation 240SX / Silvia Previewed in Nissan’s GT 2012 Meeting?

This rendering, featuring the next generation 240SX / Silvia, allegedly made its appearance on a video screen along with the first official picture of the 2010 370Z during the Nissan GT 2012 meeting a few weeks ago. We don't want to seem negative, but the profile of this vehicle with the small quarter window at the back looks like it belongs to a four-door sedan and not to a coupe. What do you think?

On the other hand, the scanned images from the Japanese magazine 'Best Car' clearly depict an artist's impression on the next gen 240SX/Silvia that will supposedly be powered a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-pot developing 225 PS. Best Car also speculates that Nissan's affordable rear-wheel-drive coupe will be based on the Japanese carmaker's FM platform measuring approximately 4,350 mm in length and 1,750 mm in width. -More pics after the jump

Aussie Clocked Going 263km/h or 164MPH in Nissan 200SX Held Together With Cables!

A 21-year-old Australian driver was caught by Police going 263 km/h or 164 MPH with his 1995 Nissan 200SX (S14) on the Hume Highway near Mittagong in NSW. As if going that fast on a public road wasn't enough of a crime, to their surprise, the Police discovered that the 200SX's body was held on by cable ties, its dashboard was not secured and its battery was held in place by a rag and a bracket! -Continued

The driver, who allegedly told police he had spent the day at the races, was charged with driving at a speed dangerous to the public. It's a darn pity we don't have any pictures of the car. (Pic: Nissan 200SX S14 '98)

Video: Insane Nissan 200SX with Turbocharged BMW M5 Engine

While not underpowered, the 1990's Nissan 200SX S13 with its 205Hp turbocharged 2.0-liter engine could have done with a few more extra horses under its hood. But these Swedish guys took the phrase 'a few more ponies' to the extreme by swapping the 200SX's 4-cylinder unit with a 315Hp 3.6-liter straight-six from a 1990's BMW M5 E34.

And if that wasn't enough, they also added a Garret GT45 turbocharger on the bimmer engine. We don't have any output figures but that Bavarian-powered 200SX S13 sure sounds sweet! Images and video right after the jump. -Continued

Project from Hell: Nissan 240SX “El Camino”

For most of us, the Nissan 240SX would be one of the last cars on earth that you'd think of transforming into an El Camino-style, pickup truck. But not for Mike who, along with a bunch of friends, decided to 'truck' his 240SX and incorporate a cantilever suspension.

According to VWvortex forum member 'doc.crush' who participated in the home-made project, the car is almost ready as the motor is going in this weekend, along with other goodies. Hopefully we'll have pictures of the finished 'satanic' 240SX next week. -More images after the jump

2010 Nissan 240SX / Silvia RWD Coupe Speculations

Could Nissan be working on a successor to the 240SX / Silvia (180SX or 200SX in other markets) as many Japanese magazines are suggesting lately? To be honest, Nissan hasn't confirmed anything yet, so these renderings that are derived from a Japanese car mag could be nothing more than a journalists pipedream.

However, if you think about it, with the runaway success of the Nissan 350Z & GT-R and Infiniti G37 sport coupes, we see no reason to as why Nissan shouldn't develop a new, reasonably priced coupe with a turbocharged 4-cylinder engine based on the rear-wheel drive FM platform. Hyundai is going to do it with the new Genesis Coupe in 2009 and rumors have it that the Korean RWD coupe will be offered for as low as $19k for the 2.0L Turbo version (see here). We certainly wouldn't mind if Nissan joined in. -More pics after the jump
