Hummer Offers Special Edition H3 Sensation to European Markets

For those in Europe that can withstand the sizzling prices at gas pumps, Hummer is offering a special edition version of its H3 SUV equipped with €4,000 or $6,300 worth of options at no extra cost. Based on the standard H3 3.7 automatic, the Sensation features a unique body-colored grille, a power sliding glass sunroof, black tubular side steps, black roof crossbars, an in-dash 6-CD changer and a Monsoon 7-speaker sound system. The H3 Sensation, which will only be available for short time, is offered exclusively in black or white paint. -One more pic after the jump

Hummer Sales Freefall in June: Down Nearly 60%

The way we see it, unless some Saudi prince or Texan gas-ilioner decides to drop the price of an oil-barrel under the $100 mark, by the end of the year Hummer might manage to put itself out of its misery. In June, GM’s brand sold a mere 2,072 units, down 59.3 percent compared to June 2007 when it sold 5,093 vehicles. During the first half of the year, Hummer sales declined a whopping 40.4 percent compared to the first six months of 2007 (16,158 vs 27,108 units). Think Hummer will make it till the end of 2008?

Hummer’s Sales Plunge in 2008

If you’re still wondering why General Motors is considering every available option for its Hummer division including a complete revamp of its lineup, a joint venture, even getting rid of it, then look no further than this chart from Freep with the brand’s 2008 sales. Paraphrasing the Chinese saying, a number is worth 1,000 words… Just for the record, Hummer’s overall sales for the first five months of the year (January through May) were down by 36% compared to the same period in 2007.

NHTSA Investigates Fire Hazard on 2.7 Million GM Trucks & SUVs

Federal regulators have began an investigation into more than 2.7 million SUVs and trucks built by General Motors between 2006 and 2008 after reports of 41 non-crash engine compartment fires, including 8 fires that may have caused significant property damage along with 16 cases where fires started while the vehicles were turned off. The probe covers 21 models sold by Cadillac, Chevrolet, GMC and Hummer.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s (NHTSA) investigators are currently examining the electrical system, engine and engine cooling system, battery cables, under-hood wiring, fuses and circuit breakers. For the time being, NHTSA calls the probe an "engineering analysis", but this could eventually lead to a recall of all the affected General Motors vehicles. -See the affected models after the jump

GM Considering All Options for Hummer Brand – Including Sale

During GM’s annual meeting of stockholders, the company’s chairman and CEO Rick Wagoner announced that apart from ceasing production at four truck plants in the U.S., GM is undertaking a strategic review of the Hummer brand to determine its fit within the group’s portfolio. In a statement issued by GM, the American carmaker said that it’s considering all options for the brand, from a complete revamp of the product lineup to a partial or complete sale of Hummer. We'd be lying if we said that we weren’t expecting it…

Hummer H1 Based “Coggiola T-REX” Concept for Sale on eBay

Concierges not impressed with your pimped Caddy Escalade? Then here’s an SUV that will definitely draw all the attention upon you: the Coggiola T-REX Concept. The only setbacks are that a) you have to look at it and, b) the seller is asking for a mouth-dropping €499,000 or $800,000 on the Italian e-Bay.

Built atop a Hummer H1 chassis and powered by a 195Hp 6.5-liter turbo-diesel engine, the T-REX was created in 2000 by Coggiola, a design firm based in Turin, Italy. Featured at the 2000 Geneva Show, Coggiola’s humongous SUV (look how it dwarfs the Range Rover!) 5.354 mm or 17.7-feet in length and is over 2,2 m or 7 feet tall at the rear of the vehicle. You definitely won’t find this remote controlled car in your local toyshop – first of all because it won’t fit out the door… The life-size, RC version of the Hummer H3 was created by engineer Dr James Brighton from Cranfield University in the UK. Of course, Hummer didn’t loos the opportunity to promote Brighton’s study. “What better way to show off the definitive big boy’s toy than converting the HUMMER H3 into a remote controlled car?” commented Steve Catlin from HUMMER UK.

“Converting the H3 into the super-sized remote control car took a month to complete but we’ve had lots of fun in the process”, stated Brighton. “The results are clear – all controllers will be amazed by the handling ability – the best any radio controlled vehicle has had to date. The vehicle is capable of climbing a 407mm vertical wall, traversing a 40% side slope and operating in up to 610mm of water – imagine the fun!” –More pics after the jump
